The Morning was bright and filled with light, the day filled with new options. Options that the just woken twenty two year old didn't feel like tackling. Clark Kent just turned over in his bed and put the pillow over his head. His alarm rang and he just reached over and smashed it to bits, groaning and going back to sleep.

"Clark!" Jonathan Kent's voice yelled up the stairs, "Please tell me you didn't destroy your alarm clock, again!"

Clark muttered into his pillow and sat up, "Fine, I won't tell you!" He calls back down the stairs.

Jonathan climbed up the stairs and opened the door to Clark's room. Clark was just buttoning up a dark red formal shirt, and had on nice black dress pants with his Daily Planet ID badge already clipped to the shirt.

Jonathan examined the wreckage that was the alarm clock.

"You just love to torture me don't you?" Jonathan sighs, running his hand through his blonde and somewhat graying hair.

"Of course I do dad, I live for it." Clark says, rolling his eyes, which had a mischievous gleam in them.

"I'm going to have to buy another Alarm clock for you. Maybe I should just grab some kryptonite, make an alarm clock with it and make it so that when you need to wake up, it shines the green light on you." Jonathan says with a faint smirk.

"You can try dad, but I doubt it will come to pass. Still. How do I look?" Clark asks, changing the subject and gesturing down to the attire he wore, though before Jonathan could say a word, Martha's voice intervened.

"Very handsome and formal, Clark." Martha smiled at Clark, her red hair gleaming magnificently in the light.

"Now try with the glasses, Clark." Jonathan insists, Clark sighs and looks at his father.

"Do I really need to wear them?" He says with folded arms.

"Yeah, you never know when you'll finally decide to step into the light and fly among the people of Metropolis." Jonathan says with a grin, Clark just shakes his head and puts on the Glasses.

"Yeah, like that will ever happen."

"Oh!" Martha says suddenly, holding out a package to Clark. "This is from that Actor you saved last week. Now there's eggs on the table, so get moving before you're late."

"Alright, Ma."  Clark says with smile. They blink and he's gone, the back door closing.

Clark arrived at the Planet within minutes and walked his way down to the basement. He looked around for the desk he had been assigned and saw it was right across from…

"Hey, Clark!" Chloe smiles at Clark from across from his desk, where she sat, the Flatscreen monitor of her computer nearly back to back with his.  Another woman sat at a computer next to them, her head buried in research that lay on her desk.

"Uh…Lois…Lois!" Chloe snaps her fingers and gets Lois' attention, getting her to look up.

"This is Clark Kent. He just joined the staff."Chloe says, motioning to Clark.

Lois looks to Clark, inspects him and then nods, "Hi Kent, you from Smallville like my cuz here?"

"Yeah. I've read some of your articles, they're really quite good." Clark says, pushing up his glasses, also looking to Chloe.

"Hm. Thanks." And Lois gets back to work.
Chloe gets up and moves around to Clark and whispers, "What's with the glasses?"

He replies back even softer, "Blame my parents, they seemed to think I needed it in case I wanted to be a hero or something." He says rolling his eyes.

"Gotta admit they were right. The glasses do change the look of your face just a bit, but enough that people who take a first glance at you just see them."

"Bah. Anyways…" He looks to his assignment list, which had been placed on his keyboard.

"Hey, what's in the package?" Chloe asks.

"Oh, just a package from that actor I helped out last week." He says, tearing open the paper to reveal a white box with blue and red ribbons, he lifts the lid and beholds a note. 'To my Superhero'.
He puts it aside and takes out a long Red cloth, a lot like the one the Warrior Angel Actor had worn as a cape.

"What is with people and all the hero references?" He whispers to Chloe.

"I hear the word Hero?" Lois says, looking up.

"Err…"

"Well, that's what Metropolis needs, a hero, now more than ever. Too many gangs and stuff running amuk. That and the murders happening every other week…" Lois trails off, tapping her pencil against her pad of paper.

"Green Arrow's trying but…he needs help…God He's hot in tights too."
Clark ahemed and Lois started.

"Whoops, um…" She blushed and got up, "I've got an assignment to do…"

"Well where? If I have it as well I can come along." Clark asks.

"Something to do with Robberies at the harbor."

"Mmm…I've got city hall." Clarks says, and Lois shrugs and leaves.
As soon as she's left Clark shakes his head.

"Charming." He says somewhat dully and continues to go over his list of things.

"Mm, she can be. Heard from Oliver?" Chloe asks as she sits down at her desk.

"Yesterday. Still keeps bugging me…Hrm…I really do need to talk to my father, my birth father. He said he had training for me…" Clarks says with a mutter.

Clark looks at the red cloth again before putting it back in the box and slipping it into a drawer.

"To your birth father? Isn't that well…risky?" Chloe asks with a raised brow.

"Yeah, but still. I need to talk to a few people and I'll make my decision…"

Clark gets up, once again looking at the box in the drawer now and taking off to do his city hall assignment.
I've had this story ready for ages to post. but laziness is my worst enemy.
